Why We Exist

Every year, foreclosure and tax deed sales across Florida bring in more than what was owed, and the difference, the surplus funds, belongs to the former owner. Much of that money sits unclaimed, because the families it belongs to never learn it exists. We founded Abraham and Associates on October 14, 2024 to change that outcome, one family at a time.

This right isn't new. Florida has directed tax deed surplus to former owners since 1935. Courts recognized the same principle for mortgage foreclosures for generations before the Legislature wrote it into statute in 2006. And in 2023, the U.S. Supreme Court confirmed in Tyler v. Hennepin County that the equity above your debt is your property under the Constitution itself. Ninety years of law, all of it pointing the same direction: the money belongs to you.

What never got built is the part that tells you. The required notice is mailed to the home you just lost. No one is assigned to find you, and the further life carries you from that address, the quieter your money becomes. The law gave you the right. It never gave you the messenger. That's the gap Abraham and Associates was founded to close: we bring the knowledge to the family, instead of waiting for the family to find the knowledge. We understand most families need someone who knows the path and walks it beside them. That's the work we chose.
